Job Description
  • This is a senior executive legal leadership position in a non-banking financial institution (NBFI). The role involves full responsibility for legal strategy, regulatory compliance, litigation management, and corporate governance oversight. The Head of Legal acts as a key advisor to top management and the board, ensuring that all business operations comply with Bangladesh Bank regulations and applicable financial, corporate, and civil laws.

    Responsibilities & Context
  • Provide strategic legal leadership for the entire organization
  • Ensure full compliance with Bangladesh Bank circulars and financial regulations
  • Advise senior management and the Board on legal, regulatory, and governance issues
  • Oversee all litigation including District Court, High Court, Supreme Court, arbitration, and writ cases
  • Supervise drafting, vetting, and negotiation of contracts, agreements, and legal instruments
  • Manage legal risks and ensure alignment with institutional risk management framework
  • Handle loan recovery, enforcement of securities, restructuring, and credit documentation
  • Develop and implement legal policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks
  • Monitor regulatory updates and ensure timely implementation across the organization
  • Maintain liaison with courts, regulatory bodies, and government agencies
  • Oversee legal reporting, filings, and responses to regulatory inspections
  • Support internal audit, compliance, and risk teams with legal guidance
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing legal team
  • Promote compliance culture across the organization through training and guidance
  • Perform any additional legal and governance-related duties assigned by management
