Job Description
  • The Nurse (Referral) position at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to referred patients across partner health facilities in Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar. The role involves patient monitoring, clinical support during transfers, coordination with referral hospitals, and ensuring proper documentation and adherence to MSF medical protocols.

    Responsibilities & Context
  • Receive and manage patients referred to partner healthcare facilities
  • Assist in OPD consultations, admissions, and ward coordination
  • Monitor patient condition and identify early signs of deterioration
  • Provide nursing care, first aid, and support during medical procedures
  • Organize and manage patient transfers via ambulance safely
  • Administer prescribed medications, oxygen, and emergency care during transport
  • Ensure proper handover of patients at receiving facilities
  • Maintain accurate medical records, referral forms, and patient documentation
  • Coordinate with doctors, supervisors, and hospital staff for patient care
  • Ensure infection prevention, hygiene, and safety protocols are followed
  • Support patients and caregivers emotionally during transfer and treatment
  • Monitor quality of care at referral facilities and report issues to supervisors
  • Manage administrative tasks including bills, reports, and financial documentation
  • Participate in audits, reporting, and improvement of referral services
  • Maintain communication with MSF teams and external healthcare partners
  • Follow MSF safeguarding, ethical, and medical standards at all times
