Job Description
  • he Senior Protection Officer – WPE will support the implementation of Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) programs for vulnerable women and girls, including survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), in humanitarian settings. The role involves supervising protection staff, ensuring survivor-centered service delivery, coordinating referrals with health and protection partners, monitoring program quality, conducting community outreach, and maintaining compliance with IRC policies and international protection standards. The position is based in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, and reports to the WPE Manager.

    Responsibilities & Context
  • Supervise and mentor Protection Officers and Case Workers to ensure high-quality GBV response services.
  • Ensure all protection activities follow survivor-centered and GBV guiding principles.
  • Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA), safe referrals, and information services for women and girls.
  • Develop and implement work plans, service mapping, and referral pathways.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor program quality and provide technical guidance.
  • Coordinate with health, child protection, and external service providers for effective case referrals.
  • Monitor data collection, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Facilitate staff training, coaching, and professional development activities.
  • Represent IRC in coordination meetings and advocate for women’s safety and empowerment.
  • Organize community outreach, awareness sessions, and engagement activities to promote available protection services.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PSEA, confidentiality, and humanitarian standards.
  • Support administrative, financial, and operational tasks related to the protection program.
