Job Description
  • CCDB is implementing a climate-resilient agriculture project that promotes biochar technology through the Krishi Bondhu Chula, an improved cookstove that produces biochar from waste biomass while cooking.
  • Biochar helps improve soil fertility, reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers, and support climate change adaptation. The project also creates income opportunities for women by connecting biochar producers with farmers, fertiliser dealers, and local markets.
  • The project currently operates in Shibalaya, Manikganj, and Manda, Naogaon. The Market Development Officer will support the expansion of biochar production, marketing, distribution, and related value-chain activities.

    Responsibilities & Context
  • Assess, monitor, and strengthen the product value chain while analysing market demand, available resources, and technology requirements.
  • Support beneficiary selection, group formation, baseline surveys, cookstove installation training, and awareness-building activities.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring of Krishi Bondhu Chula users, biochar users, and agricultural demonstration plots, with approximately 90% field travel.
  • Support the production, storage, promotion, and marketing of biochar and biochar-enriched organic fertilisers, including the establishment of trade centres.
  • Develop enterprise groups and youth entrepreneurs while creating market connections with farmers, fertiliser dealers, and other potential buyers.
  • Build strong professional relationships with government agriculture officers, local government representatives, community leaders, and other project stakeholders.
  • Supervise project-level staff, organise meetings and workshops, prepare progress reports, and coordinate with the Project Coordinator and local management.
