Job Description
  • YAZ OVERSEAS (RL-2064) is recruiting a Manager – Saw Shop for a sawmill operation in Fiji. The position will be responsible for leading saw shop operations, maintaining saws and cutting tools, ensuring accurate timber cutting, and implementing strong occupational health and safety standards. The role also requires expertise in saw doctoring, tooling maintenance, compliance, risk assessment, and sawmill operations involving pine, hardwood, and wood chipping.

    Responsibilities & Context
  • Lead and supervise daily saw shop operations to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
  • Manage the maintenance, sharpening, tipping, tensioning, and leveling of bandsaws, circular saws, and cutter heads.
  • Ensure saws, blades, and cutting tools deliver accurate and consistent timber dimensions.
  • Oversee saw shop tooling, sharpening, maintenance, and related technical practices.
  • Apply strong knowledge of sawmill operations, including pine, hardwood, and wood chipping processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, applicable regulations, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Conduct compliance audits, workplace risk assessments, and identify areas requiring corrective action.
  • Implement appropriate safety measures for saw doctoring and saw shop operations.
